How about playing dvd movies directly in subtitles translator? Is this hard to implement? Playing dvd movie and translating with right synch that way would be quite easy. Now I compress dvd movie with virutaldub and then load it in subtitles translator. Compression takes long time and is not space friendly. Playing vobs gives me strange framerates so that is no options. Is there any other way to succesfuly translate dvd movies just from audio source, when there is no other subtitles avaiiabe - e.g english?

There's a way how to play DVD (VOB files) in ST.

There are many more guides on how to create dummy AVI file, once you get some skill in it, it will take no more than 10-15 minues.

Thanks for answering. I searched before I posted, but it always gave me an error.

But still, I managed to get d2v file with DGIndex (also try with dvd2avi but is the same) and ac3 file with audio, then I convert d2v file to avi with vfapi but I get only video without sound when playing with any of the players including Subtitles translator.

It should be that way? Only video?

When translating it is good to have both, audio and video, isn't it?

Or am I doing something wrong?

vfapi will give you video only. Now you need to multiplex your dummy avi with ac3. You can use NanDub or any other muxing program that supports ac3. If using NanDub, don't forget to set the processing mode for video and audio to Direct stream copy
