Hi everybody

Subtitltes Translator is a great problem, one of the best for translations. I'm using it regulary.

However i have one guestion. Is there any possibility to run it on linux? I try wine, but i have no luck.
Is there any chances to write this program for linux too?

Keep on good work

Hi,

the chance is really a tiny one... I have no experiences with coding on linux. Maybe if ST went open source someone could port it, but I'm not planning on doing so (I like it to keep ST my own little baby sleep.gif ).

The problem with wine is maybe because I use imported WMP through ActiveX... maybe this isn't supported through wine? I don't have a way to test it myself, not a linux fan, but maybe one day wink.gif ...

Hi,

Maybe it will be usefull if You can get the error, when I run ST from wine? bookworm.gif

The error is:
Assertion faled: !"bogus context in Local_unwind()", file xx.cpp, line 2280

And in meantime, the wine wrote this:
fixme:exec:ShellExecuteExW32 flags ignored: 0x00000500
fixme:ole:CoCreateInstance no classfactory created for CLSID {22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95}, hres is 0x80040150

So, it maybe this is wine bug/config problem, not Yours cool.gif .

{22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95} is class for Windows Media Player. I'm not sure how is WMP implemented in wine (if at all) but I doubt that ActiveX is fully operational. To fix this issue I'd probably have to code/implement my own media player into ST (which I'm too lazy/noob to).

I'll try to install wmp, or something, but I think it will not working. Maybe a verson without this support, or configurable/autodetect? I don't care if I can't see the move under wine biggrin.gif If this was a bad idea sorry, I don't know about programming... nothing worthy.gif

A version of ST without actual video player would be pretty much useless + it'd take a lot of my time to rewrite the app. C'mon, windows isn't actually so bad, give it a try beer.gif

Thanx for Your answer!

I'm not hating M$ Windows. Ok, I don't lake it. I hate it. blush.gif
I'd like a SW for linux like Your child, but I can't find anywhere. So I give it a try for it, and can't play with it. I'l use under vmware+win9x biggrin.gif

Thanx a lot again! beer.gif

np. did you try some older versions of ST from retro page? maybe you could start with 1.3b and see if it works on linux (all versions up to 1.60 used some crappy player from borland builder, maybe it'll work on linux).
