Full Version: Problem with VOB files

Hi,

This program looks interesting, however, it seems I can't use it for what I want i.e. creating new subtitles for a DVD. The VOB files load correctly, however whenever I double-click on a subtitle to reach it in the video, the movie starts playing from the beginning all over again. It doesn't seem to happen with avi files. Anyone else got this problem or knows of a way to fix it ?

Any hint is appreciated smile.gif

Yes, I know about this. The problem is that vob files are not compatible with ST because they don't use frames but seconds as timeline. Thus if your subtitles start at 3000 frames (3000/25fps=120s), when you have vob file loaded, it interprets 3000 frames as 3000 seconds and so on.
This issue may be fixed in newer versions of ST, till then use some tools to convert vob to avi (e.g. SmartRipper->DVD2AVI project->VFAPI).

If all I have to do is create a dummy avi, it shouldn't be a problem. I'll try that smile.gif

Thanks for the quick reply smile.gif

Have you tryied Elecard MPEG2 decoder ?
In it's configuration enable use bitrate instead of using pts.
It should work.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say... the problem is with frames/time not bitrate.

I have an old Elecard MPEG2 decoder (some 2002). I use it to decode MPEG2 files. In it's options you can configure decoding using PTS, Bitrate or Index. Using bitrate option al work ok related to sincronisation between framerate and time.
